The flower garden is about 3/4's of the way completed. GB and I have been working hard, weeding out roots, baby mimosa trees, moving dirt and rock..it is very satisfying to see all of the hard work come together! We still need to get the mulch down in the garden beds, complete the circle around the meditation garden (which we need to get more marble for as well), a bit more pulling out of 100's of baby mimosa beneath the crepe myrtle (behind the buddha), some thyme seeds sprinkled around the inner circle and soon I will be shopping for roses (with your help:).
The stuff propped up against the fence (rear left) is the shed which will go in much further down near the rear fence, that large area of red dirt beyond the bags of marble will be the meditation rock garden, where the shed parts are now located will be climbing roses (which is where I would like your help...selecting some nice roses for behind the meditation garden)

Here is a bit closer shot of the garden (still needing mulch) you can see the soaker hose winding it's way through the garden bed. The inner circle of rocks near the buddha will be sewn with thyme. We need more marble and are discussing putting a solar fountain into the mediation area, with a kwan yin statue behind in the rose garden . As you can see at the base of the oak tree (in front) there are numberous stumps from mimosa's and such (this is one of the area's that had a great deal of rubbish/debris), I prune the suckers and wiggle the stumps regularly, we figure that eventually those stumps will die back.
We had a great time yesterday at the party of my next door neighbors (on our left), it was a combination birthday/goodbye party for their 19 year old son. We are the first people in the neighborhood they have invited to their home (though they have lived here 4+ years), I think that the other neighbors have been standoffish toward them because of crummy upbringings (I personally believe that racism is a failure within a family unit to accept others regardless of race, color or religious affiliation). I brought a huge pan of brownies, the food was delicious, there was much lively conversation and laughter. When asked to impart some words of inspiration to the young man heading into the military during a time of war (which really makes me very sad...his father also seemed not happy about his son's decision to join the military), I gave him $20.00 with instructions to get a phone card, call his family (because they love him very much) and to remember that we are all connected, we are all one race, the human race...when he gets out there, in difficult situations, remember both the guys on his "side" and on the other side, have family they love and miss very much...so your enemy is not so very different than youself. It was a tearful situation, so I told him to come home safely and remember to call him mama! It saddens me that he is going to war.
